A compact 8x10 gable greenhouse with a clear poly roof and double barn doors, built to let an Aledo, TX gardener grow vegetables year-round.
The Problem
Alton wanted to be able to grow vegetables year around, and needed a dedicated space that could extend the growing season through the colder months in Aledo, TX rather than being limited to a single outdoor season.
How They Found Us
Alton found Eagle Ridge Barn Builders through social media, which led him to place an order for an 8x10 Gable Greenhouse for his property in Aledo, Texas.
Why They Chose Eagle Ridge
Alton chose Eagle Ridge Barn Builders because Eagle Ridge had the design he liked — the 8x10 Gable Greenhouse with its clear poly roof, LP SmartSide walls, and double barn doors with windows matched what he was looking for.

The Build
This 8x10x6 Gable Greenhouse features LP SmartSide siding in Butter Cream SW 6134 with Brown SW 2856 LP Smart Trim, and a Clear Poly gable roof to let in natural light for year-round growing. Access is through a 6ft double barn door with a 2x3 window, finished with Butter Cream door panels and Brown door accents. The plan originally called for six 2x3 non-insulated windows with white frames and grids, but per the sales notes the customer removed the windows on the back wall since that side sits against the house. The build includes an exhaust fan with outlet, a water faucet with location marked on the plan, 22 linear feet of greenhouse shelving (two 5'x1'6" shelves and one 8'x1'6" shelf), 4 inches of blocking, and both water and power centered on the rear wall per the builder's note.
The Result
Alton received the greenhouse the day before this account was written, so results are still unfolding. The plan going forward is to use the space to grow his own vegetables even during the winter months, taking advantage of the clear poly roof and controlled environment the gable greenhouse provides.
