After losing three cheap greenhouses to the wind, George upgraded to a sturdy 10x12 gable greenhouse delivered to Blum, TX — built to actually hold up and start his garden plants.
The Problem
Cheap greenhouses destroyed by wind were all George had ever tried. He went through three of them before realizing he needed a larger, more durable greenhouse that could stand up to the weather instead of being torn apart by it season after season.
How They Found Us
George first became aware of Eagle Ridge Barn Builders because their location sat along his route to church. A kid he let live on his property, Skeet Coppock, had also bought a cabin he liked from Eagle Ridge. George has long admired the reputation of Mennonite craftsmen, respecting their work ethic and attention to detail, which helped steer him toward this build.
Why They Chose Eagle Ridge
As George put it, Eagle Ridge isn't the cheapest option out there, but it offers good value for the cost. Combined with his awareness of the company from passing it on his church routes and seeing the quality of a cabin build Skeet Coppock purchased, along with his respect for Mennonite craftsmanship, that value made the decision an easy one.
The Build
This 10x12x6 Gable Greenhouse was built with LP SmartSide siding in Mint SW 6513 and LP Smart Trim in Pure White SW 7005, topped with a clear poly roof for maximum light transmission. Access is through a 6ft double barn door with a 2x3 window, finished in Mint SW 6513 with a Pure White SW 7005 door accent. The structure includes eleven 2x3 non-insulated windows with white frames and grids plus a 23x10 transom window for additional natural light, along with an exhaust fan and outlet for ventilation. The floor plan calls for an 8'x1'6" shelf along each end wall and a 10'x1'6" shelf along the back wall, for a total of 26 linear feet of greenhouse shelving. The building also includes 4 inches of blocking and a water faucet at a marked location, and was delivered free of charge under the 100-mile delivery policy to Blum, Texas.
The Result
The finished greenhouse gives George a durable, wind-resistant space to start plants for his garden — a major step up from the cheap greenhouses he had previously lost to storms.
