What questions should I ask before buying a shed?
The most useful questions cut straight to quality and commitment. Ask: What's the floor and wall framing spacing? What siding do you use? What exactly does the warranty cover, and for how long? Is delivery, blocking, and leveling included? and What are my payment options?
Then ask the two questions that reveal the most: Can you put those specs in writing? and What happens if something goes wrong after delivery? Confident builders answer plainly; evasive answers tell you what you need to know.
Why it matters
Sheds are sold on appearance and price, but they live or die on framing, siding, and moisture details you can't see. The right questions pull those hidden facts into the open so you can compare real quality instead of sales polish.

The warranty question
Ask exactly what's covered. 'Lifetime on leaks and decay' is very different from a vague '10-year structural' that excludes the things that actually fail.
The delivery question
Ask whether the building can be delivered fully built to your spot, or whether tight access means an on-site build — before you order, not on delivery day.
Common mistakes
- Accepting vague answers'Good quality lumber' isn't a spec. Push for joist spacing, siding brand, and warranty terms.
- Not getting it in writingA verbal promise isn't a warranty. Make sure specs and coverage are on the invoice or contract.
- Forgetting about after-the-sale serviceAsk who fixes an issue two years from now, and how. Local builders are usually easier to reach than national chains.
