How do I compare shed quotes from different companies?
The trick is to compare apples to apples. Two quotes for a '10×16 shed' can differ by thousands because one uses thicker floor joists, better siding, and a real warranty and the other doesn't. Line the quotes up side by side and check the same six things on each: floor framing, wall framing, siding material, roof material, warranty, and what's included in delivery and setup.
Then ask each company to put those specs in writing. A builder who's proud of what's under the paint will happily tell you the joist spacing and siding brand. Vague answers are an answer in themselves.
Why it matters
Shed quotes are designed to be hard to compare — the cheapest number usually wins the click, then quality gets cut to hit it. A structured comparison protects you from paying more for less, and it surfaces the companies that stand behind their work.

Same specs, different price
When a customer normalized three quotes to the same siding and warranty, the 'cheapest' company was suddenly the most expensive — its low quote had been for T1-11 siding and no decay coverage.
The warranty tells the truth
A lifetime leak-and-decay warranty signals a company expects the building to last. A 1-year or no warranty signals the opposite.
Common mistakes
- Comparing final prices onlyA $500 difference is meaningless if one building lasts twice as long. Weigh price against specs and warranty together.
- Not asking what's includedDelivery, blocking, leveling, and anchoring may be bundled or extra. Get the out-the-door number from each.
- Skipping the fine print on RTOOn rent-to-own, check for early-payoff penalties and whether 90-days-same-as-cash is offered. Not every provider is the same.
